Nick Broad: President and Founder
Western Canada’s Premier Turf Installation Expert
Born in the historic market town of Newport, Shropshire, England, Nick’s journey to becoming Western Canada’s leading turf installation specialist began with early exposure to pristine rugby fields and a passion for sports.
After gaining global construction experience across Europe, Australia, and North America, Nick settled in Vancouver and channeled his landscaping knowledge into creating English Lawns in 1989—a company that would revolutionize turf installation across Western Canada.
With an impressive portfolio including 250+ professional playing fields, 200 golf courses, and 7,500 residential lawns, Nick’s expertise continues to be in high demand. His recent 2024 B.C. Place installation earned exceptional praise from FIFA representatives and professional players for the outstanding quality of his temporary natural turf surface.
James Birza
Senior Operations Manager & Landscaping Expert
A second-generation landscaper with Dutch farming heritage, James has built an impressive 20-year career in landscaping, rising from labourer to Senior Operations Manager during his 16 years with English Lawns. His exceptional expertise in artificial turf installation, hardscape design, and commercial turf projects has made him a leading figure in the regional landscaping industry, while away from work, he enjoys North Vancouver’s natural beauty with his wife Karla, their son, and their two dogs.
Jasmine Blasco
Director and Sales Development
Nick Broad’s eldest daughter, Jasmine brings a unique perspective to English Lawns, having grown up with the business and assisted in various roles over two decades. With valuable business, sales, and marketing expertise gained from successfully running multiple companies, she now focuses on driving continued growth for the family enterprise. Outside work, Jasmine enjoys hiking and mountain biking with her husband Matt, son Banks, and their dog, Izzy.
